Clarification on Sub Fees – 10/17/2023

We are  posting this notice to provide clarity to the sub fee rules for the 2023-24 Season.

Sub rating rules have not changed. Players can sub for any player with the equivalent rating or higher.

Updated Sub Fee Rules:

  • Any full-time or sub list player is eligible to sub in any game.
  • Full-time players must always show a priority to their full-time team.
  • Anyone  subbing  (full-time and sub list player),  is required to pay a $20 sub fee.
  • The sub fee is per night fee. – This is a change, subs are no longer required to pay per game and can play any number of games per night as long as they have paid the $20 sub fee.
  • It is the subs responsibility to pay on the night that they skate.
  • Any sub attempting to circumvent the sub fees will be removed from the league and sublist  and will not be eligible to retain their full-time spot in future seasons

Sub fees are used to fund the end of year party,  League Champion and runner up sweatshirt/t-shirts and to maintain the overall cost to all players. A portion of the sub fees is also donated to the Phil Dumas Community Scholarship.

This is non-negotiable and the team and sub list rosters as posted on the WMSHL website will determine eligibility.

In simple terms, If a player is not on the lists , that player cannot play.

Players that ignore the SUB Rule will be removed from the league.

Any sub that does not pay will be removed from the sub list and not allowed to play for the remainder of the season

SUB Rules

Each player is responsible for getting a sub to replace them when they are unable to make a game. Only subs from the sublist can be used in the league. Each sub on the list has been recommended and approved by the league reps and given an appropriate rating. To maintain parity in the league, players should only use subs that are rated the same or lower than their own rating. Each player and team should police this process to maintain fairness and keep the league fun. Remember all teams make the playoffs.

SUB RULES

  • Only use subs from the sub list. If a player is not on the list, do not use that player.
  • A sub’s rating must be equal or less than the player being replace or you will forfeit the game
  • Subs must pay $20 per night and must pay prior the game in which they are subbing.
  • Any full-time or sub list player  is eligible to sub in any game
  • Teams requiring long-term sub must consult with league reps. League reps will fill long-term needs.
  • Subs for playoffs will be determined prior to playoffs.

Our friend, our teammate and a founding member of the Worcester Mens Senior Hockey League, Phil Dumas  passed away on January 3rd, 2023. Dooley enjoyed the friendships, camaraderie and banter of the league and could always by counted on to lend a hand.

Please keep Dooley and his family in your thoughts.
